Forestry Trunk Road The Forestry Trunk Road leads north from Coleman to the Highwood Junction, and continues for some 1,000 km (621 mi). Initially laid to aid in the fighting of forest fires, common in arid southern Alberta, the graded, largely unpaved road travels through some of the province's most scenic spots, including Plateau Mountain and the Oldman River. The route also offers a quiet, scenic alternative with hiking, fishing and basic camping facilities along the way.
